South Sudanese living in the United States of America, commonly known as the Lost Boys, have stocked John Garang Memorial University with computers.

They bought and donated more than 60 desktop computers to the university library.

In 2013, violence erupted in Juba and spread to Upper Nile, Unity and Jonglei.

In the violence, the university was looted and destroyed; all computers were stolen and others, broken.

For two years now, the higher learning institution has been running without a computer laboratory.

Some of the varsity officials went to US in June this year to look for assistance the lost boys: the lost boys agreed to prioritize computers.

The university’s deputy vice chancellor for administration and finance, Professor Robert Deng, says the donations will boost quality education.

“We have now received them; we are going to assembly them tomorrow in our new computer’s lab,” Prof Deng confirmed to Eye Radio.

The Dean for the college of education, David Malual Wuor, said the computers will help Dr. John Garang University and nearby communities with many things.

“The students will be able to use computers’ lab. And of course they will be able to improve our capacity in teaching service.”
