President Salva Kiir and Sudan’s former Prime Minister Dr Abdalla Hamdok met in Dubai on Friday and discussed peace and stability in Sudan.

The Minister of Presidential Affairs Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro said the meeting centered on possibilities of finding a peaceful settlement to the current crisis in the Sudan.

Last week, President Kiir traveled to Dubai to join other world leaders for the annual United Nations conference on climate change.

According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramadan Mohamed Abdalla Goc, Kiir was expected to hold sidelines to discuss regional peace and security, including the crisis in Sudan.

The COP28 marks a milestone as the world takes stock of its progress on the Paris Agreement and facilitates efforts to align climate action and address gaps in progress.

Organizers say the conference provides an opportunity for world leaders to join their efforts to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and protect nations that are most vulnerable to climate change, many of them in the Global South.
