Juba city council builds low-cost markets

Juba City Council says they are constructing more shops in three blocks in the town for traders to rent.

Officials say they have constructed shops in Kator, Munuki and Juba markets. Traders are complaining of high charges of renting shops.

The rent for shops in Juba Town is 8,000 pounds and 5,000 in Konyo konyo area.

Juba City Council Town Clerk, Joselito Yoc Kulang, says the high cost renting contributes to the rise in food prices.

He says the council’s shops will be rented cheaply.

“City council shops are very cheap and I remember, in Nyakuron, we built like 52 shops and its size like five by eight meters and it is concrete building and we rent it by two thousands,” Mr Kulang said.
