The Mayor of Bor, the capital of Jonglei State, says a large number of civil servants have gone back to work.

Nhial Majak told Eye Radio’s Dawn Show that people have been reporting for their normal duties despite clashes in Gadiang area near Bor which he says are affecting the return of people to the town.

“Only people probably that had gone very far from town like camps around the country, people who have taken their families to countries around South Sudan are still away,” he said.

“But the majority of the people have taken their families for safety and they have come back.”

Mr. Nhial urged humanitarian organizations to help provide assistance to the people who have gone back to the town.

He said business activity is slowly resuming in the markets in Bor.

The mayor advised people a week ago against traveling by road from Juba to Bor, saying it was still not safe.
