The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC, was launched officially in Juba today.

According to the peace agreement, the JMEC will oversee the implementation of the deal and the mandate of the transitional government of national unity.

The head of the commission, Festus Mogae, and senior government officials were at the occasion.

“In his speech, the chairperson of JMEC asked the leaders of South Sudan to reflect on the conflict, the humanitarian situations,” reported Eye Radio’s Junior Ali.
