The game drew a crowd of approximately 5,000 spectators, eager to see the local cup champions begin their campaign.
The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Emmanuel Maku capitalized on an opportunity in the penalty area to put Jamus ahead. Bentiu’s hopes of turning the tides were dashed as Patric Oleo doubled the lead just four minutes later with a powerful strike, leaving the halftime score at 2-0.
The second half saw Jamus maintain their dominance, with substitute Yohanna Paulino (Cisse) making an immediate impact by scoring twice in the 60th and 70th minutes.
His bid for a hat-trick was denied by an offside call. Bentiu managed to pull one back in the 65th minute, courtesy of Gattang Machieng’s penalty after their striker was fouled by the Jamus goalkeeper.
Jamus FC sealed their emphatic victory in the 88th minute with a fifth goal from prolific national team striker Ezbon Malish, concluding a stellar performance by the home side.
Bentiu FC coach Jerry attributed the defeat to inadequate preparation and challenges posed by the artificial turf. “We weren’t fully ready, and the pitch added to our struggles,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jamus FC Rwandan coach André Cassa bungo praised his team’s performance but acknowledged Bentiu’s effort. “The opponent wasn’t easy; we succeeded by paying attention to small details they overlooked,” he stated.
