Hunger hits Tonj

Author : | Published: Wednesday, April 15, 2015

All the nine payams of Tonj North County, Warrap, have been hit by hunger.

The county commissioner, Marko Awuoc, says floods destroyed all the crops last year, leading to poor harvests.

He told Eye Radio that some people have starved to death so far, but he did not specify the number.

“The nine Payams are affected by hunger and death. I can say all of them because it was the flood which destroyed all crops including at headquarters,” he said.

Mr. Awuoc urges people in the county to cultivate this year to reduce the hunger.
