BREAKING: Gunfire breaks out in Juba

Sporadic gunshots have broken out in Juba.

The gunfire started about an hour ago around the presidential palace, where President Salva Kiir and First Vice Dr Riek Machar were meeting to discuss a worsening security situation in the capital.

The meeting was to discuss a clash last evening between the forces allied to the two leaders. According to Defense Minister Kuol Manyang Juuk, five soldiers were killed.

The gunfire quickly spread to a neighboring suburb and to Jebel, which houses the headquarters of the SPLM in Opposition forces.

Heavy gunfight and artillery fire could be heard. From the time of publishing this, President Salva Kiir was delivering a statement.
