The UN trucks that were seized this month in Rumbek have been released, an official in Lakes state has said.
The state Minister of Information, Marik Nanga Marik told Eye Radio that 19 trucks that were carrying construction material have been cleared to continue to their destination.
“This is in accordance with resolution of the council of ministers passed by the National Legislative Assembly, dated March 21,” he said.
“All the [seized] guns are going to be airlifted.”
Earlier this month the government security forces in Lakes state seized about 11 UN trucks carrying fire arms, blankets and other military items.
