The board of directors for the Media Authority has been founded through a presidential decree.

President Salva Kiir appointed honorable Kiir Chol Deng as the Chairperson of the body; deputized by Joseph Abok.

According to the state-run SSTV, President Kiir also appointed seven members from different institutions in the board for the Media Authority.

Media Authority was established after the president of the republic signed the media bill last year.

The body is meant to regulate the work of Media houses and journalist around the country.

And in another degree, President Kiir dismissed the Director General of South Sudan Radio and Television Mr. Khamis Abdullatif and from his position.

Last year the national minister of information and broadcasting, Michael Makuei Lueth, issued a ministerial order transferring Mr. Abdullatif to the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

However, Mr. Abdullatif declined the offer, saying he could be transferred from the position only by a presidential decree.

His replacement is yet to be announced.
