Gospel music should be played in bars and clubs where words of God are most needed, says a legendary South Sudanese gospel artist.

Levi Leviticus said people should also listen faith-based music to give them spiritual guidance during their time of relaxation.

Leviticus, who has been a gospel artist for nine years, said churches already know about the message while revelers might not be familiar with it.

Speaking on Eye Radio’s Soundtrack Show on Tuesday, the singer said he has no problem with his songs being played in the bars and the clubs as long as the message reaches many people.

“Playing gospel song in the bars will be the right thing, because you want the people to listen to the message,” he said.

“You might get them there; those who are in church know the message why do you want to preach to someone who already knows the message?” For me you can play my gospel songs anywhere that would actually be the best thing.”

Levi who uses different styles of sound and music to preach the gospel says he has even composed hip-hop songs despite criticism about the genre.

He says the instrumental of the music does not alter the message, and added it is only the lyrics that can change a certain message in a song.
