Gok allegedly executes 2 men

Author : | Published: Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Two people have been executed by firing squad in Gok, in the former Lakes State, according to the Chairman of the People’s Liberal Party.

Peter Mayen says the unnamed men were shot dead last week on the orders of the governor, Madhang Majok Mayen.

When contacted by Eye Radio, Mr Madhang neither denied nor confirmed the allegation, but said he would speak at a later time on the matter.

The men are said to have been under detention when they were executed. They were accused of playing a role in deadly communal clashes between two sections in the state.

Mr Mayen says the executions are against the rule of law and are a violation of human rights.

“We are actually demanding for immediate dismissal of the Gok Governor in order pave way for justice and accountability,” Mr Mayen said.

Mr Mayen identified those killed as natives of Duony County.
