The committee appointed to investigate two national ministers for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices has completed its work, the head of the committee has said.

“The final report has been handed to the office of the President, fifty three days after the formation of the panel,” said Justice John Gatwec.

They were expected to submit their findings in 60 days.

Justice Gatwec, who is also the anticorruption commission chairperson, said “the five-person committee was asked to make recommendations but does not have the power to put anyone on trial or prosecute cases.”

President Salva Kiir ordered the creation of the investigations committee in June following allegations of over 23 million pounds being un-procedurally transferred from the treasury to Daffy Investment Group which is owned by Gadhaffy Athorbei.

The amount was said to be the price of sixty two fire resistant safes.

The request for the purchase of safes was made by Hon. Deng Kuol Alor who was the Minister of Cabinet Affairs.

It was paid by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning which is when the Minister of Finance, Hon. Kosti Manibe Ngai and his deputy minister, Dr. Marial Awou Yol became involved.
