Symbol of justice

The brother of a man found guilty of murder in Panapuoth village in Aweil East County has lodged a complaint to the high court, after his brother was found guilty of murder.

Last month, three young men were convicted of killing a man, after a fight over a stolen jerry can.

In May, the young men had allegedly picked up a jerry can of fuel on the road side.

A car chase allegedly occurred, when the man who owned the jerry can supposedly chased the youths.

He got into a car accident while following them and later died.

A judge at the high court said the men were guilty of murder and ordered the driver of the car to pay twenty one cows and the two passengers to pay five cows each.

However, a relative of the driver of the vehicle that chased the man, Kur Deng disagrees with the judgment.

“It was wrong for the men to be convicted of murdering someone whom they did not even touch,” said Mr. Deng.

“The judge was acting unfairly.”
