The son of Dr John Garang, the founder of the SPLM, says inclusive dialogue inside South Sudan can work better if chaos is controlled.

Mabior Garang de Mabior is also the Deputy Spokesperson of the SPLM/A – in Opposition delegation in the Addis Ababa talks.

He told Eye Radio, in exclusive interview in Addis Ababa, that the killings cannot lead to inclusive and peaceful dialogue in the country.

“This crime that took place in Juba is what has led to the lawlessness in South Sudan and a lot of people have lost their lives because of this situation of lawlessness. So we need to stop this problem so that we can go back to our country and have this national, all-inclusive dialogue, because we can’t bring civil society organizations, the Churches, the traditional leaders, the youth, the women’s groups and the farming groups – we can’t transport them from South Sudan and come have this dialogue in Addis Ababa, we have to have this dialogue in South Sudan,” he said.

Mabior said that the entire SPLM leadership must admit the party has collectively failed the people of South Sudan.

“It is not a secret that these leaders have failed the people, but I think everybody deserves a chance and if they repent and apologise then I think we have to give them the benefit of the doubt and we are calling on our president and our chairman also to see the writing on the wall that we have failed. You admit it, we have failed and even now this conflict is even more indication that we have failed, let’s accept our mistake and move forward,” he added.

Mabior said that the leadership of the SPLM hold the ultimate solution to the crisis in the country.
