Four people were killed in different residential areas of Juba City on the weekend, a police official said.

South Sudan Police Spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin said some of the victims were killed by unidentified gunmen while rampant gang violence contributed to the rest of the murders.

A boda-boda rider was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Sunday night at Munuki residential area in Central Juba, General Justin said.

“Yesterday (Sunday) night at around 11 pm, there was a Boda Boda raider, he was returning home and unknown gunmen killed him, we got the information and we moved our force to the crime scene,” Justin said.

“They found him dead – his body lying down and they did not take his motorcycle, this accident happened yesterday and we took his body to the morgue and we opened the case and now we are investigating.”

Meanwhile, at the Juba-Yei road checkpoint, a young man was killed at the former Protection of Civilian Site.

The camp is now under the responsibility of the South Sudan government.

“We have two incidents at the PoC of Check Point. One person have stabbed dead by a knife, we received the information and went there and we mapped the area of the case and we arrested the accused person,” he said.

According to General Daniel Justine, after a security search in the camp, a suspect was arrested for stabbing the unnamed man to death.

The police official said another man was found murdered in his house behind the camp.

“Also behind PoC, some people are living there, and there we found a man dead in his house, and we took his body we brought it to the morgue.”

General Justin said the fourth person was killed in Gudele Block 7.

He said the deceased is now at the Juba Teaching Hospital mortuary.
