Fighting erupted between the government and the SPLA-In opposition in Malakal Town on Saturday evening, the Upper Nile State information minister has said.
Peter Hoth says the opposition forces had attack the government’s position.
“They came from three directions and the other shelling came across the Nile. So, the fighting continued until late evening yesterday [Saturday],” Mr Hoth said.
The Spokesperson of the SPLA-In opposition, Dickson Galuak confirmed the clashes.
He says they have taken control of Malakal Town. No casualties were reported.
