Farmers in Gogrial West County of Warrap State are urging the National Ministry of Agriculture and NGOs to supply them with seeds and tools for them to embark on growing crops.

The farmers argue that early cultivation will help to avert hunger in the area.

The County Commissioner, Makuc Aru Luac told Eye Radio that the planting season, which has started, will be a turning point for food security.

Mr. Makuc also appealed to NGOs and the National Ministry of Agriculture to supply them farmers with seed.

“We are looking for these organizations for urgent supply of seeds to these communities and also our government in the ministry of agriculture” , said Aru.

Mr. Aru said some parts of the county are already facing hunger due to last year’s poor harvest.

The majority of the population relies on small-scale farming for food and income.
