Eye Radio listeners and readers online have paid tribute to Manut George, a regular and passionate contributor in the station’s programs following his death on Thursday evening in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.

Renowned for his positive and insightful opinions, Manut found his voice through the station since 2015, when Eye Radio launched a repeater network in Wau.

He played an instrumental role during the April- 2015 repeater launch that witnessed a huge turn up from the residents at Wau Museum.

The late was known through Eye Radio for advocating for peace, unity and love among South Sudanese people.

Manut was admitted to the Daniel Comboni Hospital in Wau where he died on Thursday evening.

Al Amin Emam from Wau, a close friend to the deceased, said late Manut George had complained of stomach problem and swelling of the feet.

“Our brother Manut George battled with sickness for a long time and was complaining of stomach problem and swelling in the feet and he was admitted in the hospital,” he said.

“We tried all efforts for Manut to be with us, but it is God’s will, and we could not do anything.”

Al Zaim Abululu a regular listener of Eye Radio in Wau, described the late Manut as a brother, friend and a concern, citing his demise is a big loss to the country.

“Manut is a brother and friend, and a radio listener who always participate in small and big issues facing the people and the country,” said Abululu.

“I consider his death a very big loss to the state, South Sudan and all of us. May the Almighty receive him in Heaven with those who went ahead of us and may God strengthen all of us and the media houses”.

For Eye Radio listener George Arkanjelo, late Manut was a loving person and a fighter who always spoke the truth.

“We are sad in the state and in the country at large especially those who listen to Manut Voice and his messages of peace and love, he was a fighter, a man of peace and always spoke on truth for the country to move ahead.”

“As said it is God that gives and takes so now, we just put him in prayer for God to forgive his sins.”
