The Eye Radio team covering the peace talks in Ethiopia has survived a road accident in the capital, Addis Ababa.

The team leader and the Special Editor for Peace and Reconciliation, Nichola Mandil, says a speeding car knocked their taxi at a road junction on Tuesday night.

Mr Nichola and his fellow journalists Aguer Atem and Chuol Jany had just witnessed the signing of the Compromise Agreement by international envoys and conducted interviews.

They were then returning to their hotel when the vehicle they were traveling in got involved in the accident.

Mr Chuol and the driver both sustained head injuries, but Mr Mandil and Mr Atem got out of the badly damaged vehicle unhurt. X-ray and CT scans show that there were no major damages on the two injured victims.

“The good news is that, Chuol is in good health now; doctors are attending to him at Landmark Private Hospital Addis Ababa,” Mr Mandil said.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident has been arrested by Ethiopian Federal Police.
