The Dinka Malual of Northern Bahr el Ghazal have paid blood compensation  to the Misseriya community after the SPLA killed one of their herders near the Sudanese border.

Each community is expected to compensate the families of those killed by one of their members, in accordance with a peace treaty.

The Dinka Malual chairperson of the Peace Committee set up by the two cattle-keeping communities, Deng Luol Akuei, said the family of the deceased had accepted the compensation.

The Misseriya chairperson of the Committee, Al Rashid Ahmed Hamad, said the soldier who had killed the herder had been arrested.

He added the two sides had settled for payment of thirty thousand pounds, the equivalent of 31 cows.

The Dinka Malual, Misseriya and Rezeigat cattle keepers live along the border between South Sudan and Sudan.
