The Former Detainees, who were expected in Juba today, will not come due to logistical problems, the government has said.

The coming of the group is part of the implementation of the peace agreement.

On Wednesday, Information Minister Michael Makuei said all the members of the Former Detainees, except their leader pagan Amum, would be in Juba today.

He said Rebeca Nyandeng, the wife of late hero Dr John Garang, would be among the team.

However, in an interview with Eye Radio this morning, Mr Makuei said the team may delay because they have not received air tickets from IGAD.

“The former detainees may not be arriving today due to failure in the coordination – the IGAD failed to send the tickets to the FDs in Nairobi and Kampala,” he said.

“So, in case they succeed to get those tickets today, then they may arrive today or tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Mr Makuei says the Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission will inaugurate his office tomorrow in Juba.
