CES to demolish houses at Juba 2

The Central Equatoria State government says it will soon demolish houses in Juba Two area, locally known as Bojur.

Over the weekend, officials tried to demolish the area but residents resisted. They said they were not given a notice by the state government.

The Minister of Physical Infrastructure, David Lokonga Moses, says the area has not been demarcated.

“Demarcation of land in South Sudan and in particular in Central Equatoria state is the prerogative of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure,” Mr Lokonga explained.

“No any other person can own the land without the documents and putting a permanent building, but we are appealing to the people that we are ready to make sure that all areas in Juba are reorganized because there is a committee of reorganization and re-planning of Juba.”

Residents of the area have rejected the plan to demolish the area.

They told Eye Radio that most of them are displaced people who have not found houses to rent.
