Wau paramount chief killed by unknown gunmen

The Paramount Chief of Wau County in Western Bahr el Ghazal state, Angelo Bagari, and his wife were killed this morning by unidentified gunmen.

The attackers shot dead the 76-year-old chief and his wife. Their daughter was wounded in the attack.

“Today, I spoke to Wau County Commissioner Elia Kamilo Dimo and he said the two bodies now at Wau Teaching hospital for autopsy,” said Eye Radio’s Deng Dimo.

The cause of the attack is unclear.

Last Wednesday, Chief Bagari was re-inaugurated as a new paramount chief of Wau County.

The state government has set up a team of security personnel to investigate into the killings.
