CEPO lauds progress in peace deal implementation

Author : | Published: Tuesday, November 3, 2015

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization has praised the progress in the implementation of the peace agreement by the warring parties.

The Civil Society group says the peace process has registered developments, including the withdrawal of Ugandan forces.

In a statement, it says the second encouraging step is the ongoing progress in the Ethiopia capital Addis Ababa on the security arrangements resolution.

The Executive Director of CEPO, Edmond Yakani, says the recent development from the parties is ‘impressive and sends good gesture’ for the peace agreement implementation.

However, CEPO has urged all the warring parties to the peace agreement to re-commit themselves for observation of ceasefire.

It says the recent accusation of ceasefire violations in some parts of Upper Nile and Unity states requires the government and SPLA-IO military leadership to reinstruct the field commanders.
