EES won’t entertain returnee camps – Governor Lobong

Eastern Equatoria Governor has warned commissioners against the creation of camps for returnees fleeing the conflict to the state, saying they should immediately be integrated into the communities.

Louise Lobong Lojore says the government is coordinating with partners to ensure the returnees destined for the state are facilitated and integrated into the communities.

He discouraged any establishment of returnee camps in the state.

” We had a rule before that there is no putting in camps. We do not want people to be put in a camp in Eastern Equatoria,

“These are not foreigners to be put in a camp, these are the people of Eastern Equatoria and they must integrate with their people,” he stressed.

Governor Lobong instructed the county officials and appealed to the communities to give land to become self-reliant.

‘The other time I also said to the public that prepare, if it happens that somebody is coming, and they want to stay in Torit, he or she should find the nearest person either the relatives or  his or her tribesmen.’

The governor was speaking during a workshop organized by the UN Mission in South Sudan on preparations to receive returnees in the state.

Police are searching for a man in Ezo County of Western Equatoria State alleged to have killed his breast-feeding wife by hitting her severally with a wooden mortar.

Jacob Miskin, the chief of Ma-nzi-nzi where the incident happened says, the man he identified as Mathew Simon on Monday evening reportedly went to look for his wife , but failed to find her at the parent’s home .

Late Cicilia Mario Dedimo had reportedly gone hunting for white aunt at the time.

Ezo County Commissioner Abel Sudani confirmed the incident saying it occurred 3 kilometers away from Ezo Center but gave a different account of the incident.

“This incident happened yesterday (Monday) at around 8 pm whereby a drunk husband attacked his wife who was nursing a 4-month-old baby and destroyed her with a mortar stick,”

“We are yet to establish the cause [of the incident] but according to the primary investigation of the problem, they divorced each other about three days ago and she left their original home and went to her father’s home where the man caused the incident,” he explained.

He told Eye Radio, the suspect who is now at large might have acted under the influence of alcohol.

“The suspect escaped, up to now his whereabouts are unknown but we are already in search for him.”

Sudani said he directed the security organs in the county to search and apprehend the man.
