Ezo police search for man accused of killing wife

Police are searching for a man in Ezo County of Western Equatoria State alleged to have killed his breast-feeding wife by hitting her severally with a wooden mortar.

Jacob Miskin, the chief of Ma-nzi-nzi where the incident happened says, the man he identified as Mathew Simon on Monday evening reportedly went to look for his wife , but failed to find her at the parent’s home .

Late Cicilia Mario Dedimo had reportedly gone hunting for white aunt at the time.

But upon her return, Chief Miskin said suspect Simon attacked the woman hitting severally on the head with the wooden mortar until she died.

Ezo County Commissioner Abel Sudani confirmed the incident saying it occurred 3 kilometers away from Ezo Center but gave a different account of the incident.

“This incident happened yesterday (Monday) at around 8 pm whereby a drunk husband attacked his wife who was nursing a 4-month-old baby and destroyed her with a mortar stick,”

“We are yet to establish the cause [of the incident] but according to the primary investigation of the problem, they divorced each other about three days ago and she left their original home and went to her father’s home where the man caused the incident,” he explained.

He told Eye Radio, the suspect who is now at large might have acted under the influence of alcohol.

“The suspect escaped, up to now his whereabouts are unknown but we are already in search for him.”

Sudani said he directed the security organs in the county to search and apprehend the man.
