No new cases of cholera in Twic East

Cases of cholera infection have dropped in Jonglei’s Twic East after 3 people died in the county last week.

23 people were also admitted in the area.

The County Commissioner, Dau Akoi Jurkuc, said a number of those admitted have been discharged from the hospital.

“There are no new cases reported from the hospital in Twic East,” he said. “That shows that there is a progress.”

Cholera is an acute intestinal infection caused by eating of contaminated food or drinking contaminated water.

It is characterized by watery diarrhea and vomiting.

It requires drinking of clean water, eating food that is not exposed to flies and maintaining proper sanitation.
