Authorities in Warrap State say calm has returned to Warrap Town in Tonj North County following Thursday’s deadly attack that left at least 25 people dead and 20 others injured.

State Minister of Information William Wol Mayom said the security situation has improved after authorities imposed a curfew and deployed additional security forces across the town.

“Starting from the imposing of the curfew in Warrap Town, the security situation is relatively calm. Before the deployment yesterday, some households fled their homes following the early morning attack,” he said.

The minister said residents who fled their homes during the early morning attack have returned.

“But I heard from the county authorities that they have returned to their homes. So, the situation is calm, and the deployment has been made in Warrap Town,” he said.

On Thursday, armed assailants attacked key government facilities, including the county guest house, police headquarters, and other public installations.
