The Bank of South Sudan has refuted reports that the governor intended to change the current country’s currency.

According to the financial regulatory institution, some media outlets alleged that Governor, Johnny Ohisa proposed this while responding to questions from participants at the 1st National Economic Conference, which concluded on Saturday.

“The Central Bank urges the media to be accurate whenever quoting relevant statements to avoid confusion in such matters or even sending misleading signals to the market,” states a statement issued by the Bank of South Sudan seen by Eye Radio.

However, the 1st National Economic Conference recommended the changing current South Sudan currency to rid of old banknotes.
