The National Security Service (NSS) says preliminary investigations indicate that an electrical fault caused the fire that destroyed the administrative block at the Internal Security Bureau headquarters, commonly known as the Blue House, early Wednesday morning.

Speaking to journalists, NSS spokesperson David John Kumuri said the fire started at around 12:15 a.m. in the main building housing the Administration Division of the Internal Security Bureau.

Kumuri said all personnel were safely accounted for and no casualties were reported.

He said initial findings point to an electrical fault as the likely cause, but a comprehensive investigation is underway to establish the exact cause of the incident and assess the extent of the damage.

The NSS spokesperson dismissed reports that inmate facilities were affected, saying the fire was confined to the administrative section of the facility.

An Eye Radio journalist who attended the press conference reported that the entire administrative block was burnt in the incident.

Kumuri reassured the public that the NSS’s core operations and national security functions remain fully operational and have not been affected by the fire. This story will be updated with more details.
