Traditional musician Simon Kero, known for his hit song “Bambe Maa Kaimot,” arrived in Yambio on Monday, October 21, after a businessman purchased a ticket to rescue him following Eye Radio’s report about his being stranded in Juba.

On October 16, 2024, traditional singer Simon Kero reported being stranded in Juba after performing at a major event on October 11.

Kero stated he was promised 300,000 SSP and arranged travel, but following the event, he found himself left in the hotel with nothing.

Upon hearing about Kero’s situation, local businessman Simon Busta stepped in, confirming the singer’s arrival in Yambio after providing him with a flight ticket.

Busta expressed his sadness over Kero’s predicament, noting that he has always admired the musician’s work.

He emphasized that traditional artists like Kero should be in Yambio, surrounded by their community.

“Kero is not only known to me, I think he is known to all South Sudanese and I grew up hearing his songs, I love Kero and his songs,” Busta told Eye Radio on Monday from Yambio town.

“I did not know how he came to Juba but I came to learn that he was brought by one of the promoters for a show,” he said.

“When I learned that he was stuck I felt bad and the story of him being stranded in Juba, it is better here in Yambio,” he said.

“When I learned that I said let me just bring him back, I went this morning to pick him up from the airport and take him to his people and they were so happy,” he said.
