The African Union Security Council has expressed concern that the smooth implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between Sudan and South Sudan is threatened.

The AU Security Council says that the continuing disagreements between the governments over the implementation of the Security Agreement are at fault.

According to a statement released to the press, the AU Security Council repeated its position, that the determination of the centerline of the Safe Demilitarized Border Zone has no bearing on the demarcation of the border between the two countries.

The Council urges the Governments of Sudan and South Sudan to extend all necessary support to enable the current mechanisms to fulfill their functions.

The Council also urges the Government of Sudan to suspend any actions to halt the transportation of oil from South Sudan, until such time as the mechanisms have completed their work.
