Senior Presidential Envoy, Adut Salva Kiir, alongside Foreign Affairs Minister Dr James Pitia Morgan, has launched a tree-planting initiative at the newly allocated President Salva Kiir Village of Legacy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The initiative, allocated by the Addis Ababa City Administration, honours the historical legacy and contributions of President Salva Kiir to South Sudan’s journey toward independence.

The President Salva Kiir Village of Legacy was allocated last month.

As part of the initiative, the city administration also allocated land to International Liberty University to establish the South Sudan Heritage Project.

The project aims to preserve the nation’s history, promote national unity, and strengthen cultural ties between South Sudan and Ethiopia.

The site will feature a dedicated library to archive historical records and cultural materials, as well as a tree plantation designed as a living monument to the country’s liberation struggle.

During the visit, Adut Kiir and Dr Morgan participated in a symbolic tree-planting exercise to mark environmental stewardship and regional friendship.

The diplomatic initiative is expected to boost educational research, preserve cultural heritage, and deepen people-to-people relations between the two neighbouring nations.
