The US government has offered a relief fund of almost 200,000 US dollars to flood victims in five states through its Rapid response Funds.
The money will be available to areas of Warrap, Lakes, Unity, Northern and Western Bahr el Ghazal states affected by flooding.
“There have been concerns about increase in some water-borne diseases like malaria, diarrhea and respiratory infections,” said Ajani Husbands, US Embassy Public Affairs Officer.
Husbands also said the US government worked closely with the government of South Sudan to identify areas of need.
The 200,000 US dollars is part of 6 million US dollars put aside for immediate response to manage disastrous situations in South Sudan by the USAID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance.
