Political leaders and representatives of all the 65 tribes are discussing strategies to end the conflict.
A two-day national peace conference started yesterday in Juba. More than 700 people are attending it.
Governors of the ten states, members of national legislative assembly, civil society and religious leaders took part in today’s meeting.
The theme is “Peace Now! South Sudan Tribes United Against War”.
The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Clement Wani Konga, is chairing the meeting.
“Considering the current suffering that the country has undergone, the urgency of having peace now cannot be overemphasized,” said Governor Konga.
“We are all aware that death, diseases, hunger, displacement, destruction of properties, disunity, economic, devastation, educational crisis in some of our states have become the order of the day and that is why we need peace now.”
Eye Radio also spoke to some participants.
“People of South Sudan should contribute to peace; these divisive languages should be avoided and they should embrace peace,” said a participant.
