36 shops razed down by fire at Pibor Market

The Mayor of Pibor town said midnight fire outbreak destroyed 36 shops at Pibor Market on Monday, leading to unspecified losses.

John Gain Toguno said the incident, which occurred at 2 AM lasted for nearly an hour, and there was no fire brigade team to put off the inferno.

“This incident happened yesterday at 2 AM. All of us as Pibor people, we ran to the market, and we found that the market haven destroyed completely, we tried with Pibor peoples because we don’t fire brigade in Pibor,” he said.

Gain said 33 shops for food items, two pharmacies and one shop for clothes have been destroyed completely.

Speaking to the media in Pibor town Monday, the mayor confirmed that all valuables in the shops were destroyed in the fire.

“The shops that for clothes are not big, there are also two shops as pharmacy and all are 36 shops destroyed.”

He added that the cause of the fire was an explosion of the solar power system at night.
