106 traffic accidents occurred in one week – Police

A total of 106 traffic accidents occurred across the country in one week, of ​​which 3 resulted in death, 121 in injury, and 58 in damage, police have revealed.

Traffic police have recorded hundreds of traffic accidents in the country in one week where at least three people lost their lives, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Traffic Police has said.

According to Lt. Gen. James Rout Wuor, an average of seven to ten people die monthly due to motorcycle accidents in the country.

The traffic police department revealed to Eye Radio that motorcycles cause the most accidents compared to vehicles.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police for Traffic said it recorded 106 incidents between the 15th and 21st of this month from different parts of the country.

Seventy-eight of the incidents involved motorcycles while 28 were motorcars.

And just around two people die from motor car accidents.

“The traffic police have a weekly road accidents report across the country, and this includes the ten states and three administrative areas,” Lt. Gen. Ruot said.

“From 15 to 21 September, we recorded a total of 28 car traffic accidents, with 3 death, 9 in serious injury and 23 in minor injury and 25 in damage,

“We also recorded a total of 78 motorcycles traffic accidents, with 42 in serious injury, and 48 in minor injury, and 33 in damage.”

James Ruot has attributed the accidents to mostly reckless and drunk driving

He is now advising motorists to drive carefully and prevent rampant accidents.

According to WHO 2020 data, Traffic Accidents Deaths in South Sudan reached 4,063 or 4.84% of total deaths.

The age-adjusted Death Rate is 50.94 per 100,000 population ranks South Sudan in the world.
