The network of civil society organizations and the faith-based groups in Yei River County are planning the launch a joint peace campaign ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
The deputy chairman of the forum, Mawa George Lazarus, told Eye Radio that the campaign is to remind the worrying parties that citizens are tired of the war.
He says the leaders should focus on peace and development.
“We want to bring to the notice of the warring parties that we are very concerned and we are tired of the war and definitely our ultimate goal is to bring to their attention that it’s time for them to leave their differences and sign peace and bring peace back to the people,” said Mr Lazarus.
“We need to get into action and ensure that we don’t just sit in Addis-Ababa or wherever when people are dying back home.”
