The Commissioner of Yei River County in Central Equatoria State has warned revenue collectors and security organs against bribery at check points.
Bidali Cosmas Wori-Kojo, says he was disappointed when a lorry transporting teaks from Kagelu forest station to Ugandan capital Kampala was seized this week.
He says illegal dealers were issued receipts by revenue and traffic departments at the entry points, an act termed as “illegal”.
Mr. Wori-Kojo cautioned that officers who are authorized to collect revenue will be punished in the court, if they violate the law.
“Should we learn of this kind of things, then those people at the check points that moment will be held responsible and then we will make them face the law of this country accordingly,” Mr Wori-Kojo.
“When we discover such scenarios, we will track persons deployed at those check points for work and find out why this kinds of things happen.”
However, the Governor of Central Equatoria, Clement Wani Konga, has issued an order banning exportation of unprocessed logs outside the state.
