Yau Yau’s forces to be integrated into the SPLA

The leader of the South Sudan Democratic Movement -Cobra faction says he is working with the government to integrate his forces into the national army.

General David Yau Yau said he had discussed with President Salva Kiir the terms to which his Cobra faction soldiers will become part of the SPLA.

Yau Yau said the move is to enable his forces take part in national duties.

“This is an indication that the problems of South Sudan cannot be resolved through the barrel of a gun, but through dialogue,” he said.

“Because in every family, people can fight fighting, but people find time to sit down together and solve their problem.”

General David Yau Yau arrived in Juba on Tuesday for the first time since April 2012.

He said he will promote reconciliation efforts in the country.

Yau Yau’s return to Juba is as a result of a peace deal signed with the government on the creation of an independent administrative area for Pibor County.

The agreement makes Greater Pibor Administrative Area autonomous from the Jonglei state administration.
