The government of the United Arab Emirates has donated 12 ambulances to the National Ministry of Health in order to help the government contain the cholera outbreak in the country.

They were received at Juba International Airport yesterday by the Minister of Health, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, in the presence of the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Charles Manyankg.

“The League of Arab States is ready to assist in all fields and render humanitarian assistance, for example this gesture from the United Arab Emirates, which has hastened to donate variety of humanitarian aid, which include food items, medical supplies, blankets, plastic sheets, and ambulances,” Amb Mohamed Munsif, head of Arab League delegation to South Sudan, told the state-run SSTV.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, said the ambulances ‘will save thousands of lives of sons and daughters of South Sudan’.

In order to help boost diplomatic relations with the Arab world, last week the Ministry of Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it will soon open new embassies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
