Warrap governor ‘attempts to shoot’ ex-minister over unpaid benefits

The Former Minister of Physical Infrastructure in Warrap State says the Governor attempted to shoot him yesterday after a confrontation over unpaid dues.

Mayar Deng Yar says he visited Caretaker Governor Akech Tong Aleu, together with the former state Minister of Youth and Sports, Luka Lual, and the former Security Advisor, James Achi.

The three officials were relieved from their positions three months ago and are each claiming allowances of more than 117,000 pounds.

Mr. Mayar, who is currently an MP representing Gogrial East in the State Legislative Assembly, told Eye Radio that the dues include their post-service benefits:

Eye Radio’s efforts to reach Caretaker Governor Akech Tong Aleu for comment were unsuccessful.
