Warrap: Aguok-Kuac peace conference vows end to hostilities

A peace conference between Aguok and Kuac communities in Gogrial West County of Warrap State ended with resolutions to cessation of all forms of hostilities.

The peace dialogue which was initiated by Governor Kuol Muor Muor commenced on 1st and concluded on 3rd February 2024.

The dialogue was aimed at resolving the cattle-related conflict which occurred between the two communities in August 2023.

William Wol Mayom, Information Minister of Warrap State said the two communities drafted and signed a number of resolutions, the pinnacle of which was ending violence.

“Both communities were brought to Kuajok headquarters whereby they signed the adopted resolutions as a way forward to resolve the conflict, Wol Eye Radio.

Mayom also said the parties pledged to embrace peaceful disarmament, formation of special courts, return of stolen cattle to the rightful owners and resettlement of the displaced to their places of origin.

“The resolutions also suggest deployment of more security forces to the area, resettlement of the displaced people to their places of origin and they talked of the return of looted cattle and properties to their rightful owners.”
