No new visa procedures for Troika diplomats introduced

No new visa procedures have been introduced for diplomats from Norway, the US and Britain, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted. 

Media reports suggest that the government has introduced a new policy that requires the diplomats to seek approval of the Minister of Interior to get visas before entering the country.

The reports indicate that the diplomats were able to get visas on arrival at the airport.

“We haven’t changed anything and this is clear now to the people of South Sudan that South Sudan strictly adheres to the regulations of handling visas especially for diplomats coming to South Sudan and ours, who are going,” said Amb Mawien Makol, Foreign Ministry Spokesman.

Ambassador Mawien Makol says the three countries, referred to as Troika, have been helping South Sudan since Independence of South Sudan.
