Authorities in Upper Nile State have denied reports that a big number of South Sudanese are still fleeing the state to Sudan.

Media reports indicated that people were leaving the state through Renk County due to what they called increased insecurity.

But the state minister of Information says that some people who fled the conflict to Sudan returned to the state to receive their salaries.

Daniel Yhor Akech told Eye Radio that only these workers have been returning to the camps in Sudan.

He said that security is calm in the area.

“Since last week up to today, the situation is calm in terms of Security and criminal act there is nothing happening.”

Since the crisis occurred in 2013, many South Sudanese from Upper Nile state became refugees in White Nile State in the republic of Sudan.

Others also took shelter at the UN camp in the capital, Malakal.

Last week, UNMISS said about 1,000 of these IDPs left the camp and willingly crossed to the Eastern Bank of the Nile.
