The Minister of Health in Unity State says 42 cholera cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, despite a decline in the outbreak over the past two months.
Speaking to Eye Radio this on Wednesday, Minister Jal Puok said most of the new cases were recorded in Rubkona County, which hosts the state capital, Bentiu.
Despite the new cases, Puok said the outbreak has declined over the past two months compared to previous figures.
“Up date on Cholera as for cholera, in recent days it has a little bit dropped because if you look at the statistics, in the past 24 hours we recorded only 42 cases generally,” he said.
The minister said the cholera outbreak has spread to seven counties.
He added that daily reports of new cases from the affected counties have also declined.
“Compared to the previous, those 2 to 3 months, we usually for 24 hours we record higher. Significantly, this shows that it has totally dropped,” he added.
In July, authorities said the cumulative number of cholera cases had reached 6,844, with 45 deaths recorded since January 2026.
The authorities said Rubkona, Mayom, and Koch were the hardest-hit counties.
