The Legislative assembly of Unity state welcomes the presidential decree that removed former governor Taban Deng Gai and installed a caretaker.

Today, hundreds of people gathered at Rubkona airstrip to welcome the new caretaker governor Dr. Joseph Nguen Monytuil as he takes the oath of office.

Monytuil replaces Taban Deng Gai who was relieved from his duties last week through a Presidential decree.

Speaking on behalf of Unity state Members of Parliament in Bentiu, Honorable Peter Dak Khan denied media reports that the MPs disagreed over the removal of Taban Deng.

Hon. Dak said the President is guided by the constitution to remove a governor based on the interest of the country and the population in Unity state.
