UNFPA on FGM

As the world marks International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (Feb 5), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

is urging South Sudan government to put in place measures that will protect young girls from the practice.

It says that South Sudan household survey conducted in 2010 showed that 1.3 % of women have undergone female genital mutilation.

Eye radio’s Ray Okech caught up with Fabiola Ngeruka – Gender Based Violence Sub-cluster Coordinator who told him more.
