The Troika Embassies in Juba have called on the national government to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the recent violence in Kajo-Keji County.

The diplomatic offices of Norway, Unite Kingdom and the United State say they are gravely concerned over the killings of dozens of residents, as well as other acts of violence, in Kajo-Keji county of Central Equatoria.

“We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We call on the transitional government to urgently identify and hold accountable those responsible for these deaths,” the Western nations said.

They called on the country’s leaders to act swiftly to address the underlying causes of this violence to prevent further loss of life.

The embassies also called on all South Sudanese groups and communities to resolve their differences peacefully.

Meanwhile, the governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony has led a cabinet delegation to visit Kajo-Kejo County to assess the aftermath of the recent inter-communal violence that killed 27 people.

They arrived at the border area on Monday afternoon.

According to the governor’s press unit, the delegation visited a mass grave site where the victims were buried and addressed internally displaced persons.

“The state governor assured the locals of the Government’s efforts to reinforce the immediate return of the cattle herders to their places of origin,” the statement read.

The visit comes days after the Council of Ministers on Friday resolved to temporarily relocate to Kajo-keji County to restore stability in the area.
